Re-barrack

This is a furniture store founded in the Meiji period 43 (1910). The renovated furniture factory, with its stylish interior and designer brands, rivals those found in the big cities. It is run currently by the 4th generation owner, who is also a representative of the "Bokumoku" project, which aims to regenerate the Kumano forest with the use of insect-eaten wood. It incorporates insect-damaged material (akane-zai), which can be obtained cheaply due to its appearance, but is developed into original furniture such as tables and chairs as part of its design. It has a reputation for being fairly warm. They also carry handmade kits and other such products that focus on gaining a familiarity of wood and learning about the tough skill of woodworking craftsmen.
