Restaurant Hyakumian

A long-established soba restaurant loved by both locals and tourists, located on the shores of Lake Akan for 55 years. A stylish and sophisticated dish that is especially popular with tourists is the “ikura soba”: the dish uses green soba noodles that are kneaded with chlorella as a symbol of marshy grassland, and serves grated yam and salmon roe on top in the shape of a Japanese crane. It is a well-known favorite among tourists, and many customers come to visit the restaurant just for this dish. The hearty dish “tane-komi” (meaning “seed”), with shrimp, kashiwa, seaweed, and eggs, is an inevitably addictive menu item loved by local customers. The dish is packed with warm soba and plenty of toppings. In addition, soy sauce ramen that is typical of the Kushiro area is also popular.
