Takijirichaya
This small vegan cafe inhabits the unmanned rest area in the Takijiri Oji Shrine grounds, a world heritage site on the "Kumano Kodo Nakahechi". They offer vegan vegetable burgers made with absolutely no animal-based ingredients. Local pickled vegetables are used in place of pickles, and the buns and sauces are handcrafted as much as possible. The Takijiri Oji Shrine, one of the five revered shrines along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage, is considered to be the entrance to the sacred precincts of Kumano. Namiki Mayumi, the owner of the shop, loves Kumano Kodo and tells stories about it. She will be happy to consult with you regarding recommended courses, points to consider when walking the route, or places to drive to.
