Regional Cuisine Nabekyū
“Regional Cuisine Nabekyū”, established in the area for nearly 60 years, is a restaurant where you can enjoy handmade soba noodles and fish dishes that are unique to Lake Akan. The handmade soba noodles are created from Horokanai-produced speciality “horominori” seeds, which are grinded into buckwheat flour using a stone mill. Other locally sourced ingredients are also included. The Wakasagi Tempura meal set is a crispy fried heap of Japanese pond smelt from Lake Akan, paired with rice, miso soup, and pickled vegetables. It is recommended to eat the pond smelt tempura, with its crispy fried batter and delicious fish flavor, along with the shop owner’s specialty curry salt. By frying it with green onions, you can enjoy a wonderful aroma that cannot be produced by the pond smelt alone.
