Suzume (Sparrow) Dining Hall & Bar
Opened in 2016 in the Kawayu Onsen area as a “fusion restaurant where you can eat a lot of vegetables.” The interior of the store, with its eye-catching tile wall decorations, was designed by the store’s owners (who are also sisters) together with a local carpenter, creating a retro and warm atmosphere. They are particular about using local ingredients obtained from local farmers, such as edible wild plants in spring and the most delicious vegetables of the summer and autumn seasons. The most popular menu item is the “field meal set”, which consists of handmade tempeh (fermented soybeans) bowls crafted from pesticide-free soybeans. Even those who are not familiar with tempeh can easily eat it, and there is no doubt that it will have you coming back for more. The “field meal set” and “vegetable meal set” are vegan, following the owners’ wishes for all people to be able to enjoy the meal.
